Kanji of the Day

Join me as I learn kanji, one day at a time.

音読み (おんよみ): ジュン
訓読み (くんよみ): めぐ・る
部首 (ぶしゅ): 巛 (まがりかわ)

Meaning: patrol, go around, wander

Notes: This is one of those kanji I feel like I’ve been subconsciously seeing for years but never acknowledging.  Turns out I already knew the word from a スピッツ song 「チェリー」.  It’s in the last line of the song:

君と巡り会いたい

きみとめぐりあいたい
To meet with you fortuitously, by chance, by happenstance

からだ巡茶

からだめぐりちゃ
I’ve also recently run across a delicious tea made by Coke Cola called 巡茶 , which is where the inspiration for having this be the kanji of the day came from.  I tend to poo poo Coke, but I must say, in Japan as far as vending machine teas go, between 巡茶 and  爽健美茶(そうけんびちゃ), I must say… yum.

巡礼

じゅんれい
pilgrimage, pilgrim

巡航速度

じゅんこうそくど
cruising speed of a ship, plane, or vehicle
