音読 み (おんよみ): ヒョウ、しるべ
訓読 み (くんよみ): Freebee!
部首 (ぶしゅ): 木 (きへん)

Meaning: sign, mark, marker

Notes: It took me a while to understand what this kanji really means.  It seems that it’s strongest meaning is “marker”, as in a marker that helps you gauge or understand something’s progress or level.  This really clicked when I saw theses words:
